came down to one of my favorite sweaters. It was suggested that it was time to part with the sweater, but I'm just not ready, yet. I've taken very good care of it - so it's not faded, out of shape - nothing like that, I think my husband is just tired of seeing it. This from a man that has a t-shirt that I'm not really sure how it's held together!

You know the type. They "conveniently" show up when it's your dinner time, over and over again. Or they appear in THEIR backyard while you barbecue in yours. My mother used to have a neighbor who would come outside in her backyard DAILY to get some of what my mother cooked that evening. It got so, my mother would feel GUILTY if she didn't have something. How did YOU stop these "grubbers"? These are not poor people, by any means.<< less

Some families commemorate 3 wise men on Christmas or Epiphany. Others of Italian or Russian heritage may wait for Befana or some female entity. Still others of Scandinavian heritage may have a Tomte or Nisse.
St. Nicholas is distinct from Santa Claus, and maybe he came to your house on December 5th instead of, or in addition to, Christmas.
Other cultures have others. Does your family now, or did your family you grew up in, anticipate the coming of an anonymous giver besides traditional Santa?<< less
